Old Style and a hot dog at
Wrigley Field. A fresh pour for
the 7th inning stretch is so a
great way to cap off the day.

Forget the $1 hot dog specials
at Louisville Slugger Stadium
and splurge on an all-beef foot-
long. I’ve been to several ball-
parks around the country and
nothing compares, especially
when topped with everything
they have available, including
ketchup. May take me an hour
but so worth it.

EVERY ballparks’ hot dogs!
There is just something about
a ballpark hot dog that is so
satisfying to me.
LISA HORNUNG ALLISON JONES
I enjoy a hot dog from any
stadium. Only mustard, please.
I think the reason I like them
is that I so rarely eat hot dogs,
that stadium dogs are a rare
and delicious indulgence. Dip
them in cornbread batter and
call them corn dogs, and all
the better. It isn’t as though I don’t love the
idea of ballpark food. Greasy,
high calorie food brings a smile
to my face. It is the mere con-
cept of sitting in my own sweat
on a sweltering day eating while
watching baseball or some
slow moving sporting Does that
make me a princess?

In the old days when I could get
a draft beer in the old paper
cups – same cups as they used
for sodas, too – and a hot dog
with mustard, relish and onion.

I haven’t been to many ball-
parks, but I think my favorite
would have to be the popcorn.
Something about all that salt
and butter makes me never
want to microwave another bag
of store-bought popcorn again.

A rolling cart in the stands at
Wrigley Field had sizzling Oscar
Mayer hot dogs cooking on it.
Not very exciting or gourmet
(nor particularly nutritious), but
to a 10-year-old kid – it could
have been prime rib!

I’ve been to a lot of ball parks
and have eaten a lot of food,
but my favorite will always
be the Skyline cheese coneys
at Great American Ballpark
in Cincinnati.

You can’t beat a ballpark
hotdog, especially the footlong
from Slugger Field. It’s inexpen-
sive, as far as ballpark prices go,
and it’s a lot of food. It’s a clas-
sic paring and no trip to a game
is complete without getting a
hotdog.

It doesn’t matter where, but a
hot stadium Bratwurst reigns
supreme in the pantheon of
stadium foods. Slap some
‘kraut and mustard on it and
you got yourself the king
of stadium eats.
