EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF THE BEATLES AT ABBEY ROAD ON THE RIVER The world’s largest Beatles tribute festival will once again take place in Jeffersonville on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-27, at the Big 4 Station Park and Radisson Hotel. For festival goers, Abbey Road on the River is truly the weekend they mark their year by. That’s because each year when people from all over the U.S. and abroad come together to celebrate the music of one of the best bands of all time, they reunite with their “Beatles family” and experience five days of peace, love and rock-n-roll. Abbey Road on the River is not just a festival; it’s a feeling. It’s a place where everybody’s happy. A place where every day is like a magical mystery tour down memory lane. A place where families and people from all backgrounds can sing and dance together. A place where the fans mingle with the bands, and the bands become fans when watching fellow bands perform. Attendees can enjoy over 250 concerts featuring music from the 60’s and 70’s performed by 60 different bands from around the world. Classic rock highlights will include a tribute to Queen, the recreation of The Who’s Tommy album, and a concert celebrating the This is an advertorial. 32 EXTOL : APRIL/MAY 2019 50th anniversary of Woodstock. 2019 headlining bands The Buckinghams, The Cowsills and The Grass Roots will perform on Saturday, May 25th. The Buckinghams, one of the most loved pop bands to emerge from Chicago, will perform their hits including “Kind of a Drag.” The Grass Roots, who set a record by being on the Billboard charts an unbelievable 307 straight weeks between 1967-1972, will have the crowd singing along to “Midnight Confessions” and “Temptation Eyes.” Sibling group The Cowsills, the real-life inspiration behind the hit series The Partridge Family, will perform their pop hits like “The Rain, the Park, and Other Things.” Other festival highlights include performances by renowned harpist and Jeffersonville’s own Erin Hill, Peter Asher of “Peter and Gordon” and Jeremy Clyde of “Chad and Jeremy” performing together, and a reimagined production of the album that inspired the festival, Abbey Road. Abbey Road includes the hits “Come Together,” “Something,” and “Here Comes the Sun,” and it was the last one recorded with all four of The Beatles participating. The album’s cover featuring a photo of The Beatles walking across the striped crosswalk in front of Abbey Road studios has become one of the most iconic images in music history. The festival will take place at the beautiful Big 4 Station Park where attendees can enjoy a playground area for children, Beatles merchandise and craft vendors, interactive art installations, and a wide variety of food and bar services. Some concerts and presentations will be held at The Radisson hotel. Of course, Abbey Road on the River gets by with a little help from their friends.
