ADDRESSING CHILDCARE CHALLENGES SURVEY
SUMMARY
With funding from the Indiana Economic Development Association and Duke Energy, Ivy Tech Sellersburg and One Southern Indiana Chamber and Economic Development( 1si) commissioned a study to explore access to childcare in the region. Specifically, this study focused on childcare in Clark, Floyd, Crawford, Harrison, Scott, and Washington Counties. Key stakeholders were invited to participate in a focus group in the spring of 2024. Results from the focus group discussions informed development and implementation of a community survey. Survey results are presented throughout this report.
A total of 113 stakeholders provided survey feedback. Of these, 41 % were parents( or grandparents) of young children and 27 % were private sector business leaders. Early childcare providers( 11 %), educators of early childcare providers( 9 %), and representatives of nonprofits( 4 %), government( 4 %), and K- 12 education( 4 %) also participated. |

The majority of respondents worked in Clark( 57 %) or Floyd( 49 %) County, though Scott( 11 %), Harrison( 11 %), Crawford( 5 %) and Washington( 5 %) Counties were also represented. 1

Floyd( 45 %) and Clark( 33 %) Counties were also the most represented in terms of where respondents lived, while fewer residents Scott( 6 %), Harrison( 4 %), Crawford( 1 %), and Washington( 1 %) Counties responded.
